Final Tribute to Legendary Director Bharathiraja in Theni

The body of acclaimed filmmaker Bharathiraja, who passed away in Chennai on June 10 due to health complications, has been brought to his farmhouse in Theni district. Thousands of fans, film personalities, and political leaders gathered to pay their respects. The funeral is scheduled for 3 PM today, with arrangements including floral decorations, police honors, and separate queues for fans and VIPs.

Notable attendees included actresses Suhasini, Radhika, Nirosha; lyricists Vairamuthu and Snehan; former Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam; CPI(M) leaders; MPs and MLAs; and actors such as Vadivelu, Samuthirakani, Karunas, and directors Vetri Maaran, Seeman, Ram, and Ponram. Security was overseen by DIG Sashimohan and district SPs.

A poignant moment occurred when comedian Vadivelu, overwhelmed by breathlessness, briefly withdrew from the crowd before returning to pay his respects. The atmosphere remained deeply emotional as fans from across southern districts continued to arrive in large numbers.

Peddi Tamil Nadu Box Office Day 6: Crosses ₹5 Crore

Ram Charan's Peddi has completed six days at the Tamil Nadu box office, crossing the ₹5 crore gross mark. Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, the Telugu sports action drama released worldwide on June 4, 2026, featuring Janhvi Kapoor, Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, Divyenndu, and Boman Irani.

Day‑Wise Collections
According to box office tracker Jerin Georgekutty, Peddi's Tamil Nadu gross stands at ₹5.05 crore after six days:

Premiere shows: ₹32 lakh

Day 1: ₹1.48 crore

Day 2: ₹73 lakh

Day 3: ₹96 lakh

Day 4: ₹98 lakh

Day 5: ₹31 lakh

Day 6: ₹27 lakh

This brought the extended opening weekend total to ₹4.47 crore, with weekday collections slowing down.

Recovery Status
The Tamil version alone has contributed ₹1.89 crore, while the distributor share is estimated at ₹2.27 crore against theatrical rights valued at ₹5.50 crore. This translates to a recovery rate of just over 41%.

With Day 7 collections underway, the film's second weekend will be crucial for improving recovery and sustaining momentum in Tamil Nadu.
