RS Bharathi: DMK’s Independent Strength

Speaking to reporters in Chennai, DMK Organization Secretary R.S. Bharathi stated: “It does not matter to us whether parties remain in alliance with DMK or not. Even if DMK stands alone, we are not worried. We have our own strength."

He clarified that the Communist Party of India (CPI) had only expressed difficulty in continuing within the DMK alliance under current circumstances, not a permanent withdrawal. Bharathi thanked CPI for working alongside DMK for the past ten years.

He emphasized that alliances have come and gone since DMK's inception, but the party's strength remains intact. Bharathi added: “We respected our allies deeply. During our five years in power, we honored alliance leaders with the ‘Thalaichal Tamilar' title, even more than our own members. This shows how much we valued our partners."

On recent developments, he questioned why allies were suddenly reconsidering their stance: “What policy change has occurred in just one month? What governance shift has taken place? We do not know what mistake we committed in this short period for them to leave us."

This statement underscores DMK's confidence in its independent political base while acknowledging the fluid nature of coalition politics in Tamil Nadu.
