Chief Minister Vijay Launches Statewide Drug-Free Tamil Nadu Movement

At Chennai State College, Chief Minister Vijay inaugurated the Drug-Free Tamil Nadu Movement, a statewide initiative aimed at eradicating narcotics and fostering awareness among youth.

  • Pledge Ceremony: CM Vijay led the mass oath-taking event, reading the anti-drug pledge aloud. Thousands of students followed, committing themselves to a future free from substance abuse.

  • Police Honors: Fifteen police officers who excelled in anti-drug enforcement were awarded medals by the Chief Minister. Their dedication in curbing narcotics trafficking was recognized as a model of service.

  • Awareness Drive: A special anti-drug awareness video was screened for students, reinforcing the dangers of drug abuse and the importance of vigilance.

  • Destruction of Seized Drugs: Across Tamil Nadu, police forces destroyed confiscated narcotics. CM Vijay personally initiated the process in Chennai and monitored similar actions in Chengalpattu, Tirunelveli, Coimbatore, and Thanjavur via video link.

  • Student Recognition: Schools and colleges that effectively ran anti-drug forums were honored. The Government Higher Secondary School, Sengodampalayam, Coimbatore received the first prize for its outstanding efforts.

  • Memorable Moment: During the award ceremony, a young boy dressed in a police uniform—son of a police officer—saluted CM Vijay. The Chief Minister returned the salute, lifted the child, and affectionately interacted with him, symbolizing hope for a drug-free future generation.
