US-Iran Deal Signed, Israel Defiant

Reports indicate that US President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf have signed a memorandum of understanding, with an official ceremony scheduled in Switzerland on June 19. Vice President Vance confirmed his attendance, while Trump may also join.

Iran has signaled new maritime policies, suggesting vessels using the Strait of Hormuz could face fees as Tehran and Oman discuss joint management of the strategic waterway. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei emphasized the strait's importance to Iran's national security.

Meanwhile, Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz declared that Israel's military will remain in security zones across Lebanon, Syria, and Gaza "without any time limit," despite the draft US-Iran deal. He stressed the need to protect border communities from "jihadist elements." The Lebanese army urged caution for residents returning to southern villages amid reports of a ceasefire clause in the preliminary agreement.

Trump announced the deal on Truth Social, stating Washington would lift its naval blockade of Iran. "The deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete. Congratulations to all!" he posted. Iranian state TV claimed the US was forced to accept the agreement, though details remain undisclosed.
