Tamil Nadu Unveils ₹11,000-Crore Green City Urban Infrastructure Plan
Tamil Nadu has announced an ₹11,000-crore urban infrastructure push focusing on greener and more climate-resilient cities. The plan includes improvements in public transport, green spaces, waste management, water systems and other urban infrastructure.
The initiative is aimed at addressing the growing infrastructure pressures created by rapid urbanisation. Proposed measures include smart roads, sewage-treatment facilities, solid-waste processing units and environmentally friendly buildings. The government has also indicated that the programme should benefit lower-income and other vulnerable communities as cities expand.
