Nepal Floods: 21 Tamil Nadu Pilgrims Rescued, Search Continues for Missing Indians
The devastating flash floods in Nepal have triggered a major rescue operation involving Indian nationals, including pilgrims and tourists from Tamil Nadu. According to the latest reports, 21 Tamil Nadu residents travelling as part of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra have been rescued, while authorities continue efforts to locate other Indians who remain unaccounted for.
The situation has prompted closer coordination between the Ministry of External Affairs, the Indian Embassy in Nepal and state governments. Tamil Nadu has also stepped up its response, with ministers travelling to Delhi to coordinate rescue and repatriation efforts. The state government is focusing on tracing the whereabouts of 86 missing pilgrims, according to a report published early on August 28.
The Indian government has also established a 24-hour control room to assist citizens affected by the disaster. Families are awaiting further information as rescue teams and diplomatic officials continue working in difficult conditions.
